Reading at Home
Dear Families,
Did you know that when children read and practice previous learned skills over the summer they are more likely to leap ahead when they return to school? This is often called the “summer leap,” and Dreamers Academy has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to practice all summer long!
Additionally, Dreamers Academy encourages families to check out Just Read, Florida, which is the statewide reading initiative that prioritizes reading and Read-At-Home Plan resources in English and Spanish. This amazing resource is shared especially with parents of students identified with a substantial reading deficiency.
We partner with the New Worlds Reading Initiative for students in grades K-5 to receive books, which are shipped to their homes.

Summer Reading Assignments
Kinder- Third Grade
Students are expected to read twenty books. Record each completed book on the reading log. After reading, students will choose three extension projects from the choice board. Each project should represent a different book from the reading list. Students should use the project rubric as a guide to complete high-quality work that shows creativity, effort, and understanding of the book. Evidence of each completed project must be submitted by turning in the actual project, or by providing photos or a video of the project.
